Leadership announcementsI am pleased to announce the appointment of two HIDOE leaders to positions as Interim Complex Area Superintendents, effective July 2, 2018:
Keith Hui, Pearl City-Waipahu Complex Area. He has been with the Department for more than 20 years, most recently as principal of Waipahu Elementary, and also held leadership and teaching positions at Waimalu, Maili, Barber's Point and Makaha elementary schools.
Keith will replace CAS Clayton Kaninau, who is retiring after a more than 30-year career with the Department that included serving as principal, vice principal, academic officer, and teacher. On behalf of the Department, I want to thank Clayton for his dedication to our students and schools.
Rochelle Mahoe, Farrington-Kaiser-Kalani Complex Area. She has been principal of Noelani Elementary since 2006. She has also served as vice principal at Pearl City High School and Likelike Elementary School, and taught mathematics in our classrooms.
Rochelle will replace Catherine Payne, who starts her term as the Chairperson of the Hawaii State Board of Education on July 1, 2018.
James Suster will serve as the Temporarily Assigned (TA) Principal for Waipahu Elementary. The Department is in the process of determining the TA Principal for Noelani Elementary.
Please join me in congratulating these excellent educational leaders!
Dr. Christina M. Kishimoto
SUPERINTENDENT
